Mung Kavum (Mung Bean Oil Cake / Green Gram Oil Cake) is a traditional Sri Lankan sweet made especially during the Sinhala & Tamil New Year. It is prepared using finely ground mung beans mixed with kithul treacle or sugar, gently spiced, shaped, and deep-fried until golden brown. The kavum has a crisp outer layer with a soft, slightly crumbly inside and a naturally rich, aromatic flavor.
